It is a nice, clean interior in a fringe downtown Coral Gables storefront location. It was quiet the weeknight that my wife, son and I went there. So the service was quick. I had the Filipino Pork Bowl which was bland. It consisted of shredded pork, barely seasoned, on a bowl of rice, also barely seasoned. My wife had a Korean beef dish, and my son had a beef Red Curry dish. Both of those were phenomenal. Fortunately I was able to spoon on a bit of each of their dishes onto my my pork/rice bowl and they made it come alive! Two out of three ain't bad, hence the four stars.

I absolutely love Yuga ! Great hidden gem in the gables . The food , atmosphere, service and prices are amazing . Great lunch specials as well.(Gets a big lunch crowd ) Dinner usually doesn't have much people . Must try tuna sandwich appetizer ! Honestly great overall .

I came here for dinner on a Thursday with a friend and former Yelp elite who recommended this place highly. We were seated right away after being offered a table or a booth, given menus, and the server was there within a few minutes to take our drink orders. I had the edamame to start, a beer and the chicken teriyaki rice bowl. My friend ordered the curry vermicelli. While I wasn't thrilled with the taste or the amount of sauce that was drizzled on the chicken and the rice (it didn't have much taste and there wasn't enough of it for my liking), the chicken breast was so large that it more than covered the entire top of the serving bowl. My dining companion seemed to enjoy her meal, and after she'd eaten her fill, she literally had enough to take home and make an entire other meal. The service was quite good throughout the evening, and as we were leaving, 2 staff thanked us for coming. For everything we ordered, the bill came to just a bit more than $41 before tip.

Ok, let me explain before I get started that service here is ridiculously amazing. That is what made me decide to give this place 5 stars and not just 4. The manager, hostess and server are all amazing wonderful people who just know how to treat people and cater to every desire/need. The food is delicious and similar to many other Asian-fare restaurants. They have several raw items, which are very well prepared, such as their sashimi and rolls. Their Filipino Bowl is a very complete and delicious meal. Very tasty and you gotta love the fried egg. Their Short Rib dish was also amazing and the meat was perfectly cooked. I must say that I really loved the red curry beef. My wife had to prevent me from just drinking the remaining sauce. So good. To finish we have always had the Thai Doughnuts, which are the same as all other places, but you know what other places don't have? This amazing strawberry purée which tastes delicious and is just divine when added to the regular condensed milk dipping sauce. Such a wonderful way to finish the meal. If you're still in doubt, try it out and see, maybe you might fall in love as well. Happy eating!!

I tried this place on a Monday night and loved it! The service I received was excellent; they brought us water before we asked for it, refilled our glasses without us asking, cleaned the table and took dishes in a timely manner, and the waiter was very nice and helpful with the menu. The menu has something for everyone, great variety. The sushi here is so yummy! I had the crunchy tuna tartar roll and the dragon roll. Good portion and they don't skimp on the sauces and spicy mayo. The Korean short ribs are boneless and so flavorful. The sauce is so good I wanted to lick the plate! We also had the Filipino rice bowl which has garlic fried rice, braised pork, and a fried egg. I have to say the bowl is a good size to share, but I found that the rice itself needed more flavor. I didn't taste any garlic to it. It was nothing a little salt couldn't fix though. The best for last-dessert! The Thai doughnuts were perfection!!!! They come with homemade strawberry sauce, chocolate sauce, and condensed milk. The strawberry sauce is amazing!!! I'm definitely coming back, especially for the doughnuts!!

Four stars bordering 5, based on taste alone !!! Portions are hefty too. Service is usually quick, usually but there have been hick-ups. Still very worth while !

Of all the restaurants in the Gables, how can such place be so hidden! Took to this place by foot through the seeping cross sections of Ponce De Leon on our quest for new indulgences, or as some people may call it, lunch. Parking is made easy here as well since it doesn't sit so close to the main streets which is always plus for us, noted. Upon entering you'll notice that decor is made simple and nothing flashy, casual dining if you want to put your finger on it. Speaking of which, don't forget to Belly. Woop, points! While scanning the menu we were intrigued by their taro croquettes. One, because taro. Hello. And two, the crab shreds inside added a 'crab cake' feel. Hello there. Now, don't go and expect huge chunks of crab, that's not the star here; however, the crispy texture sitting in their creamy sweet and sour sauce sold it for me. Along with the taro goodness, I took the liberty of ordering the Filipino rice bowl. (Seeing how I was excited to see a Filipino fusion in any restaurant) It was basically between the Korean BBQ rice bowl or this. I've had my share with bibimbaps so I decided we should see what the Filipino bowl has to offer. As you can expect, the pork was phenomenal. Very tender and juicy, no severe spices needed. The pickled onions acid cut the savory flavor of the pork perfectly (hmm, viet influence?). Then of course, you have the garlic rice enhanced every spoonful and a sunny-side up egg literally topped it all off. I must forewarn that this dish isn't looking to serve a complicated palate. Instead, if you are looking for a bowl of hardiness, this would be your boxing ring. Ended our meal with two salads, one for each of us (main entree comes with soup and salad to which they let us trade to our liking). Basically mix greens with an amazing dressing. Sadly I didn't catch the type of dressing but to put it perspective, I cleaned my plate with regards to how much content the earlier dishes were. We took a sneak peak at the dinner menu and fixated our eyes on the mushroom encrusted 8 oz tuna (mouth begins to salivate despite how we are full). Just a heads up if you're conscious about your spending, the night pricing looked pretty steep compared to lunch. Food is a luxury after all. Ending verdict: Plating was on point. Service was extremely accommodating. And we already settled on the decision to come back here.

Came in with a few coworkers and had a seriously fantastic meal. There were three of us and we definitely had our fill off the menu. We did a variety of hot dishes as well as a pretty solid spread of sushi. The real standouts were the taro root croquettes and the lamb ribs. I don't even really care for lamb but these ribs were fantastic. As for sushi the dynamite roll was, well, dynamite! Coming from Michigan I was really excited about the prospect of really awesome, fresh sushi and they did not disappoint. The sashimi plate was incredible. The salmon in particular? Like BUTTAH. For dessert we enjoyed the thai donuts which were served with chocolate, strawberry, and condensed milk sauces. Excellent. The service was impeccable. The waitstaff to the bussers--everyone was SO nice. We definitely closed the place down and no one was giving us a hard time or rushing us out the door. A fantastic experience across the board!
(5)Frank E.
Absolutely love this place. Been coming to Yuga off and on for the last number of years and I have never had a bad meal here. Everything is highly consistent and the waitstaff is top notch. They are close to work so the lunch specials are always my comestible of choice. I usually opt for the Vegetable Stir Fry. The lunch menu comes with a starter bowl of miso soup which is very good. Bits of tofu, seaweed, and scallions in it. Next comes the side salad and California roll. I have them make it without the crab. The salad and dressing is very light and the pickled things in the bowl add some good crunch. The sushi roll is very nicely prepared and the pickled ginger is not dyed that garish pink! The Vegetable Stir Fry has such a clean taste. It is seasoned but not overly so. Made like this you can taste all the lightly seared onions, green peppers, etc. Come for lunch and enjoy great fresh food.
(5)Li F.
The food was just okay, I remember we ordered two soup/curry type dishes and they were on the salty side. Presentation is good, and service is very good.
(3)Jo A.
Awesome service. Very cute and small place. The food was so good, too. With an app, a chicken entree, and a sushi roll, the price wasn't bad either!

My friend had discovered this gem and had been mentioning it to me for months, took me a while but I finally gave them a try for dinner and wow! I now know why she is a regular. She said to ask for Carla, so we did, Carla is an excellent server, she thoroughly knows the menu, gave excellent recommendations and always had a smile. We chose the tuna sandwich as an appetizer. They are four triangular shaped rice and tuna filled goodies, wrapped in seaweed, battered and fried with a sweet soy glaze. Absolutely delicious and not overly greasy! I tried their homemade ginger ale to drink and I loved it, you could identify all the different flavors without it being overly sweet. My husband chose the red curry beef for an entree and I chose the Korean BBQ rice which I asked them to add a sunny side up egg (you must do this). My husbands curry was delicious, the meat was very tender and the spice was just right, the curry broth should be a soup of how good it is. My Korean BBQ rice was also a hit, meat was just as tender as in my husbands dish, the egg yolk was runny how I like and the spiciness was on point, if you're not into spicy foods simply ask them to put it on the side. Will I be back here? You better believe it, I look forward to trying every single item on their menu.
(5)Virginia P.
Lunch specials are delicious and filling! Also love the healthy portion of Thai donuts with 3 dipping sauces.
(5)Fernanda F.
This place is amazing! I live nearby and have been there twice already in the same week! Their curry is unbelievable and they have a great lunch deal! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. I definitely recommend and will be going back soon!

4.5 So, I came to a pan-Asian restaurant to discover a new favorite American wine. Lookit that. Don't get me wrong: the food at Yuga is quite good (more on that later) but the first thing I can think of when thinking of the restaurant is the Oregon white that rocked my world. Believe me, on a hot mid-summer's night in Miami, you want a bottle (not glass) of cool, crisp, refreshing white wine. Water? What's that? Booze in hand, I'm now able to go on about the food... which, as I mentioned earlier, is quite good. I don't quite understand the criticism about the decor. What do you want? Dragons running up and down the aisle? How can something prepared and run by Asians not be Asian enough -- especially when complained about by non-Asians? Miami, your ignorance is showing. Again. So, forget any criticisms you read about the decor. It's minimal (which is, actually, quite 'Asian') but you're not here for the wall art. You're here to get an eat on. Start with the taro croquettes. I know, I know. By name I wasn't sold either but the taro is mixed with herbs, corn, BLUE CRAB and, then, FRIED. Top it off with sweet & sour sauce. Done. Delicious. Don't share. Also on the do-not-share list: lamb lollipops. I'm warning you. You will lose friends if you try splitting these bad boys. Not only is the meat tender and seasoned very well, that sauce will make you jump for joy. Since we had maki on our minds (and more wine coming), it was time to get a roll on. The crunchy tuna tartare was a fantastic blend of taste & texture, as the smooth avocado and crunchy wonton strips accompanied the buttery fish, cilantro, mango & masago mix. The daimyo roll was a nice variation on my theme (no mayo or cream cheese in my maki; ever) with surimi being the star attraction. The Seoul surprise was worth it for the kimchee... but when it comes to fish, do yourself a favor and load up on the sashimi. Dynamic. Beautifully presented. Delicious. If you want to experience the fish and know what you're eating, spend some time with the sashimi options. Even though we were stuffed, the idea of dessert is never a bad one. But, dessert at an Asian restaurant? What... like, green tea ice cream or something. Nope. Dem. donuts. All I can do is shake my head. The Thai donuts with the chocolate, strawberry and condensed milk dipping sauces. Mmm mmm mmm. You will need to find a mother to slap out of sheer necessity. SO dang good. For the entirety of our stay, my party had wonderful service that was helpful, engaged AND non-intrusive. Score. Walking to the restaurant on a steamy Friday night, I was reminded how pretty even the business end of Coral Gables is. Walk off your food twins and see what's going on around Alcazar. I'd never known that Yuga was there but for Yelp and it would have been too bad for me to have left Miami without having eaten here. Check it out.

Excellent service! Cozy and clean environment. The food was spectacular every single item. Must try Taro croquettes Lamb ribs Philippino rice bowl with pork Almond crusted snapper Will be going back for more things on the menu.
(5)Mickey L.
Really tasty. Interesting Asian fusion items. For the area I would say best in its class. Downside is that it is too pricey

I am a curry addict. I don't discriminate- Jamaican, Indian, Asian- I eat them all. But the red curry bowl from Yuga has single handedly changed my life, and their yellow curry vermicelli noodles, has repaired my estranged relationship with carbs once again. These two dishes have me dreaming in Asian! This place is a hidden gem in the Gables and perhaps one of the best Asian restaurants around. The menu has a nice selection of items to choose from. From rolls, to curries, to noodle dishes, there is something for everyone. Their pork spring rolls are absolutely amazing and different from any spring roll you'll have in most Thai restaurants. I've had their tuna tataki and it is fresh, perfectly seasoned, and simply exquisite. What keeps me coming back is their amazing red curry beef bowl. It comes with thinly sliced pieces of beef, sweet potato, onions, mushrooms, peppers, all cooked in delicious coconut milk. It has a subtle heat to it which is perfect for me since I can't handle too much spice, and the bowl is big enough to share, but I opt not too. There is such depth of flavor to this dish- it is the best curry I've had to date in Miami. The yellow vermicelli noodles is also an amazing dish. It has a more Indian style curry flavor to it but not as strong, with huge shrimp and sausage added into it. My husband loves this dish. Not one noodle is left on his plate. If you still have room for dessert after consuming the ginormous plates put in front of you, try the Thai donuts. There are 8 to an order and they are fried to order. One bite with their condensed milk and you are suddenly thinking fluffy clouds of deliciousness! They are perfectly golden, soft and fluffy, and they will melt in your mouth. Order it even if you can't eat them- you'll find a way! As regards service, it's amazing. They are friendly, prompt, courteous, and make you feel welcome. Many of those who come here you can tell are regulars and they are remembered. It has quickly become my new favorite spot and definitely my new favorite Asian restaurant!

I love this place, and I think it's really great. I've been coming here every couple of weeks since a year ago and not once have I been disappointed. The staff is super friendly, the ambience is great, the food is to die for. If you live in the area and try the place, you'll no doubt become a regular, and if you don't, you'll move.
(5)Matthew S.
Yummy food and great selection for vegetarians and non-veg alike. Extensive menu and great lunch special. They had a great and tasty selection of sushi rolls including some delicious vegetarian sushi which I was pleasantly surprised by. The place way busy during a Wednesday at lunch time and one waiter seemed to be working the whole room like a pro. He managed to give great service and our orders were not delayed. Overall a good restaurant with good service. If I am back in the area I will go back and try more items on their menu.

You know, I went to Yuga a couple years ago on a living social deal and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure why I didn't go back sooner, maybe I thought it was expensive, who knows. So I went here for Valentines day solo meal since my bf was out of town. The dinner menu has a good selection of higher and lower end items, their entrees are not cheap, but are beautifully plated and excellent. I didn't want to spend too much money so I ordered the shrimp summer roll - moist, fresh, shrimp was actually halfway cooked (this is a good thing) and the peanut sauce was great. I was looking over their menu and noticed that their sushi rolls are actually really well priced. Even cheaper than most other sushi places in Miami. I ordered the red lantern, zen, and another roll whose name I can't recall. If you're the type of person that likes to eat with their eyes first, Yuga is nice because they are very artful in their serving of each item you order and they really pay attention to detail. The red lantern roll was my fav even though the other rolls were great too. I really had to control myself not to eat all of the red lantern from the beginning. :p Oh and their wasabi is by far the HOTTEST in Miami, even a little bit will have you sweating. This is awesome because most restaurants make things milder for customers with weak taste buds. Be careful! :D I ordered a chocolate cake for dessert which was also fantastic with strawberry sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that stayed hard for a long time. Great service, great food, and wow cheap sushi in the Gables. I will go back again much sooner! My bill was $35
(5)Lauren G.
It's a simple little hole in the walls of coral gables. The place serves AMAZING food. I definitely recommend the dragon roll (this isn't any ordinary dragon roll) as well as the crunchy tuna tar tar. This is an Asian fusion restaurant and trust me, you won't be disappointed. By far the best sushi rolls in all of coral gables.
(5)Cindy T.
Clean n tidy. Very nice waiter. Food came out pretty fast. Didn't care for the Korean short ribs. It was too chunky
(3)Toni M.
I drove to this place from Pompano Bch because i was told that's very good but what a waste of gas! The pot-stickers very ordinary, sashimi combo small but cheap though. I guess the old saying is valid here too, you get what you pay for! The atmosphere is very plain, nothing asian there. The restrooms are literally inside the kitchen. The service is not good but that was to be expected, being Miami! Not a destination for sure but if you live in the area i guess...
(2)Francisco S.
Great lunch deal for the mile. All of their specials will fill you up and send you walking back to the office quickly. Not sure why this place isn't talked about more, its clearly the best option on the mile. Second to only the best, Matsuri in South Miami.
(4)Antonio G.
The highlights: the Korean tofu as an appetizer and the shrimp curry as a main dish. The main dish portion is very generous, lots of shrimp which a rarity for Miami restaurants. Service is attentive yet not intrusive; they could have a better wine list but I find beer goes better with this type of food. They have excellent Asian beers such as Kirin. I could care less about the minimalist decor. I come here for the food, not for the art hanging on the walls !
(4)L P.
Solid food, not spectacular, but it doesn't need to be. Attentive service and great value for the lunch specials. Recommended for the Gables working set.
(4)Sabryna L.
I ordered the spicy glass beef noodles. I think the best part of the meal was the skirt steak. In total it was about $15, which I think was way too over priced. The noodles took up a larger portion then the skirt steak, but the glass noodles weren't that great! it did have a spicy kick to it which I did like, but I think just the texture of the glass noodles were weird (they were too thin for my taste. This waa my first time eating glass noodles). I suppose they did give a decent size portion, because I had enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. I would say when I heated the noodles up again, they were all oily and just not even enjoyable. But the skirt steak was ok! The environment was very casual, it doesn't stick out to be very memorable in my mind. And the service was okay - nothing great but not shabby either.
(3)Yani E.
The sushi is so FRESH here :D. Get the mystery sushi (you welcome) its so good, my mouth is watering right now with the memory of it
(5)E M.
This is my go-to sushi restaurant in Miracle Mile. I have never had bad service here. I've eaten inside about 5 times and gotten to-go orders countless times. The waiters and waitresses are always timely, professional, and they're not difficult to understand. The inside is well-lit, with sturdy wooden tables and chairs, and very clean. Not to mention, the sushi is consistent and delicious! Every time I order a to-go order, it is always ready within 15 minutes. They've never gotten it wrong, and they always give me plenty of soy sauce, wasabi, and chopsticks -- something that rarely occurs when getting to-go sushi. I've had the Dragon Roll (my fav), the Sunrise roll, Roscoe, crab rangoon roll, among other rolls I can't remember. I also can't remember one I didn't like. Speaking of which, I actually just ordered my to-go food -- gotta go pick it up!
(5)Heinrich V.
I'm very happy with this new finding! It's great for lunch if you work/live in the area. Prices are very reasonable and quite large portions. Their spicy pork was pretty good. Get some Thai donuts for the road ;)
(5)Ben S.
This is a creative and consistent pan Asian restaurant with great service. The Tuna Sandwiches appetizer is awesome - tempura fried tuna and rice with seaweed - as are the spicy beef and duck dishes. The lunch specials are tasty and come with soup, salad and Sushi roll. The sorbets are home made.
(5)Vane S.
Hubby liked this place way more than I did. Nothing was "bad" so therefore the 4 stars. Service was great. Everything seemed very clean and food was nicely presented. I do feel there was a little too much rice in the rolls. Ie: fish to rice ratio was off. The Miami heat roll had fried fish which was a little chewy and soggy. None of the rolls we ordered were bad but I've had better. Hubby loved the sashimi tasting for appetizer and was in love with every roll we ordered. So there ya go. Lol Not a bad experience but I'd probably choose a different place next time.
(4)Pablo M.
Wonderfull little pan asian restaurant in the gables. The location is great there is lots of easy access parking on the street. The restaurant is just the right size and feels very quaint and cozy. The service was very good we were greeted immediately and sat down upon entering. The waiter made sure to keep our waters filled and wine chilled. Food was excellent very good it arrived without much delay and the portions were a bit more than enough. I ordered a seafood soup that was full of shrimp and scallops and the broth had enough of a spicy tasty kick to raise the dead. Sushi was fresh and very filling. I highly recommend trying this place.
(5)Naty K.
Very tasty food, fresh, exotic, delicious flavors and great service! I will have to remember to come back again whenever I am in the Coral Gables area.
(4)Robin O.
After tonight's meal, Yuga has officially become my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Great sashimi, the shrimp with coconut milk, jalapeños and lemon Brass was to die for, excelente service and well priced. I wish the ambiente was cozier but it won't keep me from going back again and again and again.
(5)Billy P.
My favorite sushi place. We get take out at least once a week. Food is always fresh. Service is great too.
(5)Fabio F.
I first tried this place because a friend was eating there and told me to pass by! Well my friends and I have slowly become a HUGE fan of their tropical roll (which has some mango sauce that is fire!) and their spicy tuna roll and ofcourse the tuna tartare . Although the food is really good this place is very quiet. It is a alittle too quiet sometimes for my taste, I feel like I have to whisper sometimes. But nonetheless the food is very good and if you're in the area I recommend you give it a try!
(3)David C.
Not only is this one of the best neighborhood restaurants in the Gables, it has some of the best food and the best service in Miami. The ambience is relaxed and casual, but don't let that fool you..the food is exceptional. I've never had anything other than fantastic food with warm, friendly, caring service. Such an amazing place.
(5)Laura B.
Thoroughly impressed all around! Ordered 3 dishes. The Octopus salad was a generous portion of thinly sliced grilled octopus with a pile of cucumbers and other goodies...very nice vinaigrette. Don't pass it up! The tuna sandwiches tasty and fun...fried which normally don't do but glad I did. A sushi roll with shrimp and mint that was unique, light and refreshing. Service excellent, tea soothing and delicious. I could hear other patrons "oohing and ahwing" at their food as well. Wished I lived closer so I could make it my new neighborhood place...worth a drive back!
(5)Lynn P.
My favorite comfort restaurant in Miami. Great food, charming people, beautiful ambience. Plus, it isn't at all expensive and parking is a breeze.
(5)Valerie B.
Very good Food. Just don't go around closing time. We felt rushed! But overall good quality food.
(4)Jordan K.
I really like this place and should go more often. I probably would if i could remember where it is. It's on a quiet street so you won't pass it regularly. The food is great witha wide selection of asian dishes from various regions. Reasonable prices and quiet atmosphere.
(5)Lynn P.
This is one of the most pleasant restaurants in Miami. The wait staff is superb and friendly without being intrusive. The decor is soothing and beautiful, with cut flowers and interesting paintings. The food is the real draw, though. It is Asian fusion, with clean tastes and the freshest ingredients. My favorites are the Szechuan eggplant, the stir fried bok choy and the beef with glass noodles. Prices are incredibly reasonable, particularly considering the quality of the ingredients.
(5)David G.
I don't know how I haven't reviewed Yuga until now. This is our FAVORITE RESTAURANT in Miami! They have the best sushi (especially the tuna tartare roll). Everything is always extremely fresh. The korean steak and rice bowl is always great too. Whatever we get we are always happy with the food. Service is exceptional. The space is small, clean and quiet. Great food and great environment and great people.
(5)Rebeca V.
Running errands in the Gables and we stopped here on a whim since we were in the mood for sushi and bored of the usual places. OMG, loved it. The menu had interesting choices, not the same items you always see in sushi restaurants. Must try the banana cheesecake wantons. Also, the service was great and good came out fast, and priced fairly. I will definitely come back to try the other menu items next time I am in the area
(5)Jo W.
Being a former University of Miami student, I was excited to spend the day in Coral Gables visiting the Kampong, Deering Estates, and The Shoppes at Sunset. Well, after a full day of hitting the streets hard, my boyfriend and I were starving and in need of a good dinner. I really wasn't in the mood for mall food and really wanted to have sushi and knew of Yuga Restaurant in the area so we headed there for dinner. On Saturday, the restaurant opens at 6pm and we knew when we were heading there that we would arrive right around the time they open so we thought we were going to be the first ones there, but once we pulled up to the front, we saw that there was already two tables with diners. In addition that that, we also arrived at the same time as another couple and half way through our meal, the restaurant was almost already packed, so you know this is a really popular spot. It is a cute little restaurant. The decor is nothing too fancy but the size and earthy colors make it feel cozy. Despite its small size, the setup allows for couples to large groups to dine comfortably. The service was a little lackluster. We were greeted and seated promptly, but it did take a little while to get service. A couple came in after us and was taken care of before we were so that annoyed me a little bit. Once we were finally acknowledged though everything was prompt and went smoothly. Our waiter just was not all that friendly but if we needed anything, he was helpful, though he did not explain the menu, but honestly, he was the only one assisting customers so I can kind of understood. Now, the food though, it was off the chain! The Asian Nachos were so mouthwateringly good; so amazing. The chips were so light, the avocado was ripe and fresh, the pork was tender, and the sauce was so refreshing. It is just an all around beautiful dish so if you ever decide to go here, you have to get at least this. My gage tester for sushi at every Asian/Japanese restaurant I go to is the Spicy Tuna Roll. At Yuga, their spicy Tuna Roll is prepared with fresh tuna (of course), scallion, and garlic-chile rolled in rice and sesame. We ended up getting three different roll and this was by far my favorite. The tuna was fresh, it had a nice spice to it and the flavors added from the garlic-chile gave it a really nice taste. The next roll we got was the Rising Sun Roll which comprised of tuna, salmon, avocado, and spicy mayonnaise rolled in rice and masago. Again this was another delicious roll. No complaints here, the ingredients were fresh and it had a nice spice and flavor to it. Finally, we had the Miami Heat Roll which is made up of conch fritter, cream cheese, mango, lettuce, cucumber, and spicy mayo rolled in rice and sesame and topped with mango sauce. It was good but I have come to the realization that when I eat sushi simple flavors are often better for me. It was good and I could eat it again; it just was not my favorite. All in all the sushi was delectable. The right rice is what makes all the different. I like rice that isn't too sticky or dense but is light and fluffy and the sushi here definitely fit the bill. Now you know I couldn't leave without my dessert. For dessert we got the Thai Donuts which are served warm with 3 sauces: chocolate, strawberry, and condensed milk. They were so good. I appreciate that they were freshly fried and light (which they should be at all restaurants). I hate when they are dense and full of grease. The three sauce were good (condensed milk was my favorite) but I wonder how much sauce other people use since they give you like 1/2 cup of each and we barely put a dent in each. I just found that to be wasteful but really I shouldn't complaint because if I didn't have enough sauce that would be a huge turnoff. I don't know if I should say it and don't quote me on it, but I am going to list Yuga Restaurant in my top 5 Asian restaurants (at least in South Florida). I highly recommend it and besides not having the best service, the food is so good that I don't even care.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The menu is Asian fusion in the truest sense of the word. I frequently get just appetizers for dinner. Great sushi, also hot dishes; ramen is great, too.

Went with good ol' Rony Mo one night for some good eatin'. This Miami curb-stomping native knows where to get everything, and this is his favorite Japanese eatery in the county. And now it's mine too. God I wish it wasn't all the way in the Gables (and parking is awful there) but the food was just divine. Transcendant. Service was warm and attentive. And the sake selection was epic. I ordered the Miso glazed tuna and swooned. We'll be back!
(5)Meredith C.
Not your typical sushi place. Lots of unusual menu items, including the crispy lamb ribs, which are a MUST! Everything is fresh and delicious, and the service is fantastic.

Thanks to my girl Hannah S..I was gladly introduced to this great restaurant. I can honestly say, this place has the best vegetarian rolls! hands down! So many good choices , I wanted to try it all! Prices are reasonable, service is on point and the restaurant is small and intimate. I will be visiting again!

I visited Yuga after getting a Groupon Now deal. I'm glad we had a groupon because the restaurant is on the pricey side. The sushi was simple but good. My seared tuna entree was beautiful and tasty, but the execution was terrible. It was well done and made me sad. Sometimes it tasted liked I was eating chunky tuna from a can. The miso broth/sauce and bok choy accompaniments were delicious and totally wasted on a such a sad piece of fish. If you're going to order the tuna, please ask for it to be "rare rare" not tuna can tuna. Also, I'm not a fan of paying for parking but there was no other option. We opted for the city parking lot just east of the restaurant.

Both the service as well as the lunch specials were awesome. For about $8 you get miso soup, mixed salad, california roll and your choice of protein. The salad is fresh and crisp. The dressing is so delicious, they should seriously bottle this stuff and sell it. My parents ordered the sweet and sour pork katsu, which reminded us of a panko crusted schnitzel. Japan meets Germany, they loved it. I ordered the miso marinated salmon, which had a very nice sear and crispy skin. It was a tad overcooked for my taste but not everyone likes their salmon as moist as I do. The banana cheesecake wontons for dessert are awesome. Can I say yummy!? We were very satisfied with the taste, presentation, portion size and price of the food. If this place were closer to home or work I'd be a regular. Even still, it is worth the drive from the beach.

SO GOOD! Best sushi place for vegetarians that I have ever been to - they had 6 different rolls to chose from! I am a huge sushi lover, even though I do not eating fish, so this was very exciting for me. I usually don't care much for the sauces drizzeled over sushi but these were quite good and complemented the flavors. Prices are normal for sushi, which made it very affordable with my Groupon! Service was great and my boyfriend enjoyed his fish sushi as well.

I visited Yuga Restaurant, after purchasing a $15 for $30 deal off GroupOn, and I must say that this restaurant met my expectations in regards to atmosphere, service, and authenticiy of food. However, it fell short in regards to quantity. The restaurant is situated off Alcazar Avenue, and there are a few parking metered spots located directly on the street, which you can secure if you are lucky. When my friend and I got there, we could not find parking, so we just decided to park at the garage I use for work which is located off Ponce. It was a nice 5 minute brisk walk through Miracle Mile. The insides of the restaurant are decorated very simple. There is enough seating for an establishment this size. We sat at a wooden table with two chairs right by the window. We ordered a large platter of crispy almond snapper, a taro appetizer, and two types of sushi rolls (can't remember which ones), and you can tell they were absolutely authentic, healthy, and delicious. If you want authentic Asian cuisine, come here. Overall, our meal cost a little bit over $30, but it was worth the price. I just wish we got more food for our money because we were still craving a little dessert at the end of our meal.

Walked in without a reservation on Friday night and our party was seated immediately. My friends started out with the sashimi and egg rolls, I opted for the taro croquettes. The salmon my friend got was perfect and left me wanting more. The taro croquette had good flavor but was a bit too greasy for my taste. I ordered the Rising Sun roll and was not disappointed. At the end of the meal we shared a plate of Thai donuts and they were definitely my favorite part of the meal. If I had gone alone I might have eaten the whole order by myself. The service was very good and the ambience was very low key. Definitely a place you go to for the food and not for the atmosphere and in my opinion, ain't nothing wrong with that. Will be coming back and def get the salmon sashimi!

Yum!
(5)Abby L.
This place has excellent service and great food! The wild mushroom salad, miso soup and tofu steak are all delicious vegetarian options, and there are plenty of meat and fish dishes on the menu also. Definitely would consider this place a hidden gem in the Gables.
(5)Fed C.
Delicious fresh food. Check Infinite amount of options (carnivores & vegetarians alike). Check Affordable prices (verging on steal). Check Super Friendly Service. Check. Sometimes I wonder why not every restaurant in the world follows these simple guidelines. Yuga basically wrote the book. If I didn't like to cook, I'd come here every week. I don't doubt some do.
(5)Linda B.
Best sushi I've ever had in Miami - large menu, good service, and must go and try. My friends that work in the gables go here all the time for lunch.

READ THIS FIRST! It may have the ambiance of a nice hospital cafeteria but a few of the dishes we had renewed my faith in food and chefs. The Lamb Ribs were stellar in flavor and texture. A spot on touch of crispy with juicy, very flavorful meat and the fat was perfectly rendered. The sweet and sour sauce had the perfect consistency and great flavor but I might have done something a little more daring with heat and or apricots. Lamb Ribs should not be mistaken for Lamb Chops. The Szechuan Eggplant in spicy chili and garlic sauce is neither spicy nor garlicky but it is incredible! I can't describe how wonderful this dish was for us. Suffice it to say, I have never had eggplant or any vegetable cooked so perfectly. We also had the fried Baby Octopus with a creamy mustard sauce. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very good with a hint of cumin but there was something missing. Nevertheless, I was still impressed by the Baby Octopus. We also tried the Ceviche Sampler. all three ceviches were good but not quite great. The one with the pineapple was my favorite and could be great on a hot afternoon in a big bowl. It was almost like a fruit salad. One of the others was tuna in a kimchee base that was executed perfectly but not quite round enough in flavors. On a side note, both me and my Peking Death Survivor partner, commented on the nearly perfect yet too fine of a dice on the fish in the ceviches. It made it hard to eat, well with chopsticks anyhow. If they just lowered the lighting, put on some music and put a few plants in the place it would really help the atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable and the service was spot on. The presentation and execution of every dish showed craftsmanship, care and love. I am very glad we drove by, turned around, went back and ate our second dinner there. For those of you that might be unfamiliar with the term "second dinner" it is a concept associated with Peking Death. Not to be confused with "fourth meal", second dinner is when you eat an entire meal at one restaurant and then in very short order proceed to eat an entire second meal at a different restaurant. This can be followed by 3rd, 4th and 5ht dinner and in extreme cases a 6th or more dinner. It is a combination of dedication and compulsion to consume food not solely from hunger but from a gluttonous effort to support the culinary arts.

Seriously, when you get home tonite smell your shoe, it will be less pungent than a soup people keep ordering here. The rolls were less than mediocre and I feel bad because I don't know if its that most the people who wrote the reviews here were at their first sushi restaurant or if I just hate the smell of vinegar socks and soggy sushi. Seriously the staff was super kind but a i hate to admit, this place needs a revamp stylistically both in food and ambience. But the calamari was ok,) try again somewhere else peeps!

I actually went to Yuga for the first time after purchasing a groupon deal. I have to say, I was very impressed. The restaurant has a cozy feel to it and the service is amazing! I ordered a curry dish (insane portion) and the sunrise roll. Just the other day I took a friend and we decided to try their lunch menu. They don't have the typical Ginger/peanut salad. It was even better!! I ordered the Thai chicken basil dish and it was delicious too!!
(5)jose b.
We had eggplant plate (fantastic)and couple of rolls for appetizer ( good) and a vegetable curry ( excellent) and korean bbq rice as entree. Service superbe, food and ambiance.

Yuga!!! I am instantly a fan. It's smack dab in the middle of Coral Gables, and rumored to be owned by Lan of Dadeland Station. The place is kinda small, but was very busy for a week night. The menu is pretty large and we wanted EVERYTHING. We fought back and only ordered half the menu, we'll try the next half next time. Fiery spinach app was too fiery for me but full of flavor, taro crab cakes were so good - gobbled up immediately, spring rolls were the same way - great peanut sauce. We ordered two rolls - both I think lacked something. One was some sort of Mystery Surprise roll (not the Dynamite one) and it was overly spicy and no real taste, and the other was the Crunchy Tuna Tataki Roll - also missing the crunch and whatever it needed to make it yummy. These were not gobbled up, and taken home as leftovers, where they lacked even more the next day. So keep in mind - sushi, not to be wasted time on - stick to apps and entrees. Entrees!! mmmm..... the Red/Yellow Curry Snapper was freaking amazing! It came with an excellent curry sauce (and no, I wasn't a fan of Lan's but here they've perfected it) on top of smashed plantains and rice. I will get this each time I go here, its one of those meals. My friends ordered the Yellow Curry chicken vermicelli and said it was good, not as good as the fish but it was a heaping large serving. And as if we didn't have room for dessert, somehow we made room for Banana Cheesecake Wontons. They were scarfed up... but we quickly noted, we could easily make these at our next Deep Fried Wonton Party. The bill arrived and shocked us how much three young ladies could spend on a meal, even using a Groupon to boot, but we all had leftovers and a very nice meal together. Keep in mind: 1. they will charge you service fees for extras without letting you know. extra rice equals more money as well as adding ice cream to the dessert. When offered, I think they should notify you of this. 2. Also, many of the apps and menu items are smaller portion sizes, kinda like Asian tapas, just so you know.

Yuga was amazeballs! I had asian nachos and taro croquetas. Yislin C. squealed over the 5 spiced sweet potatoes. I usually hate sweet tates, but I squeaked a little bit too. Different recipe on their calamari but it was a great one too. Best Miami restaurant I've been to in Miami this year. Beats out Chow Down Grill. I"LL BE BACK!
(5)Robyn K.
I prefer to give this restaurant 4 1/2 stars, but since that's not possible I'm rounding down. I ate here with my daughter on a Wednesday night. Small, quaint, romantic atmosphere. Just off Miracle Mile so you're close to everything without all of the parking hassles. I ordered a "green roll" although that's not the complete name. It was deep fat fried, and I think in the appetizer section. I wouldn't get it again. It was a bit too greasy for me. I also had the curried shrimp noodles. A bit spicy (not overly so), flavorful, and with the most shrimp I've ever been served in a restaurant. My daughter had the miso soup, vegetable spring rolls, and pork soft dumplings. Thai doughnuts for dessert. They offered three sauces instead of the typical one for the dessert. Strawberry, chocolate and sweetened condensed milk. Service was prompt, and everything was presented beautifully. My other daughter has celiac disease so I have to be very careful where I take her or I'm sure she would love Yuga as well.

My niece and I came in for lunch on a weekday and surprisingly it was not as busy as expected. We were seated right away and given the menu, which included a hearty lunch menu. We started with the edamme, which is your typical edamme, slightly warm with just the right amount of sea salt. For lunch, I picked from the lunch menu which consisted of the miso soup, salad, California roll and your choice of dish. For my dish I picked the Red Curry Beef, which had a consistency of a stew; thick and creamy with vegetables and chopped up skirt steak mixed in with a coconut broth. My dish was very good, however, I believe the dish is not for everyone, it's more of an acquired taste, in my opinion. At first it took me a while to enjoy all the spices but quickly learned to appreciate all the flavors exploding in my mouth. Being that this was my first time, we also enjoyed and split a dessert and decided on the banana cheesecake wonton - all I can say D.E.L.I.S.H. The banana cheesecake is a fried wonton filled with a banana cheesecake filling served with a sauce on the side. The wonton's are so good, the sauce wasn't necessary. By the time we left the restaurant had become busy, so my recommendation is to beat the lunch rush hour. Overall, I recommend Yuga Restaurant. The lunch menu provides a variety of choices and all at reasonable prices. The quality of the food is amazing and fresh. The only drawback was the service; the service was slow and we spent a over an hour at the restaurant. Other than the wait, a great place to enjoy a great meal.

Yuga is good, but not great. I went for dinner Value: 4 stars. Very well priced Ambiance: 2 stars. Leaves much to be desired Service: 4 stars. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive Food: 3 stars. Certainly adequate and tasty, but not very memorable We had a delicious bottle of sake called "Summer Snow" (Nigori Ginjo). Highly recommended. Appetizer: Ehringe (Mushroom & bacon dish) The mushrooms were delicious, but I would have enjoyed a medley of different types, rather than just Royal Trumpets. Appetizer: Crab Rangoon Sushi Roll. It was prepared as a traditional roll with cream cheese, crab (well, Krab truly), and tiny crispies to reference the crunch in a Crab Rangoon. I would have preferred actual tempura flakes to the product they used, but it was still good. Entree: Garlic Beef Tataki. The skirt steak was sauteed medium and correctly. You could really taste the flavor of the meat as the seasoning was minimal, which I enjoy. Hints of garlic and spicy elements, but not over salted or seasoned. The sticky rice was excellent! Perfectly cooked Entree: Yellow Curry Vermicelli. This was delicious all around. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, Chinese sausage gave the dish balance, and the sauce was light and flavorful. Fresh cilantro and peppers rounded it out perfectly. Dessert: Thai Donuts. You must eat these. I will go back to Yuga because there are many other things on the menu that intrigued me, including the vegetarian options. Hopefully they'll step up the consistency and turn down the lights before then.

Try the spicy shrimp soup! Just don't eat the lemongrass!!

Exceptional Japanese fusion cuisine. Our sushi was particularly creative with the addition of mint. Very creative and therefore gets a five.

DROOL. Wow, I am totally in love with this place. It's so incredibly rare than any sushi place (although Yuga is much more than that) has more than one vegetarian option. So many choices, and everything they have is simply scrumptious. I've been here twice now - and it's stellar all the way around. Most recently I brought my uber-picky chef mom, and she RAVED. That's when you know it's exceptional. They have at least 6 vegetarian sushi rolls, and my faves are the tropical roll and the avocado crunch roll. DELICIOUS. Seriously. I didn't even miss the fish. It's got a cute little atmosphere and super friendly staff. I've also read that the desserts are terrific. One of these days, I'll have to veer away from the sushi and try the noodle bowls or one of the other options ... I saw people eating them and was envious, but the sushi is just SO good... I'll be spending a lot of time here, for sure - and I'm thrilled that it's just a few minutes away, cuz that means takeout is an option!

We tried the calamari-- crispy, but somehow bland, sauce was a little bland too. Pork/beef egg rolls-- came out hot & fast, but the flavor was just OK Sweet potato fries drizzled in five-spice sauce-- came out hot, beautiful to look at, but it just didn't work-- fries were bit undone, flavor mix didn't work for me Miso soup was fine-- House salad was fresh with good dressing Very nice server, constant refills on water I really wanted to love this place, and, much to my husband's amusement, it fell flat for me. I would probably go back without him and try some sushi, except that I like Matsuri for sushi...and I don't like to eat sushi from places that don't seem busy.

I was searching for a place to visit that would help me complete by 300 mile American Airlines bonus award and I chose this location because of the great reviews. Thankfully, neither my friend nor I were disappointed! We started by ordering the eggplant appetizer, which was delicious, but very very hot! I had a salad to start, which was very filling, and ordered a Sashimi platter and a regular bagel roll (standard with cream cheese, etc.) for my main plate. Everything was delicious. My friend ordered a hefty plate as well and was very pleased. For dessert, we salivated over the Thai donughts that we had been desiring for so long. Also, we enjoyed a bottle of wine between with our meal. With all of that said, our meal did not amount to even $90. I think the portions were great, we were fully satisfied, and the prices were amazing. Separately, the service was very good and the ambience was nice and quiet; we were able to talk without interruptions. Maybe a little too quiet... :) but all in all great.

Love their ramen noodle soup & banana cheesecake wontons. Very vegetarian friendly. Friendly staff not so quick service. It is family friendly, group friendly.

We had dinner at this restaurant a few times when it first opened up, the cooking was truly excellent but pricey. I don't think I can forget the "tofu prepared three ways" appetizer , it was a real eye opener for someone like me who's been a life long tofu hater - and still am. Fast forward to dinner yesterday, the first time in years that I went back. The atmosphere was calm, mature -unlike Lan's who tends to be crowded with rowdy and misbehaved children - and I no longer need a candle to read the menu. It was just a little too cool (dark) when it first opened up The prices ranged from cheap to reasonable, even the wine menu has choices around $20 a bottle. We started with a special : a zesty bok choy sauteed with chili, garlic and shallots (fun) and a Tom Yon Goon. The soup was tasty and I enjoyed although it was very far from what I'd expect, then again it's not a Thai restaurant. My choice for the main dish was the Yellow Curry Vermicelli, prepared with Gulf shrimp, Chinese sausage, rice vermicelli, red onions, spinach and bell peppers in a curry sauce. ($14) I thought it was really very good but I wish it had been a little less timid with the sausage. It was sliced paper thin and there wasn't enough to counter the abundant shrimp and make it a little more lively - that's just my taste, my partner thought it was delicious as it was. She was in the mood for Chinese soup and ordered the noodles with dumplings ($12) What can I say, it tasted fresh and like the real thing. For desert we had some crispy dumplings, I don't remember the ingredients but it was hand down the best desert I've ever tasted in a Asian restaurant. Overall I'd rate it very, very good -rather than excellent- and also one of the best dining values in South Dade.

Had lunch here yesterday, after spending a couple of hours at my dentist. I have to admit, one of the reasons I chose a dentist in the Gables over the Beach is it forces me to get off the beach and post-dentist, try out one of the many great restaurants in the Gables that I always hear and read about. And I am so glad I stepped in here! The food is pan-Asian, about 50% Japanese, 25% Thai, the rest a smattering of Chinese and Vietnamese. Everything was fresh. This has got to be one of the best lunch deals in the Gables - for $9.99, you get miso soup, followed by a platter with romaine/tomato salad, seaweed, and an 8 piece California roll, and then your main dish - in my case, Thai Basil Chicken. I was almost full just with this, and then the Chicken arrived. It was diced chicken breast, with a delicious basil sauce. My dining companion/boyfriend had the soba noodles - amazing, and I believe it was under $15. A definite must try ! We will be back for dinner!

Ate and reviewed this restaurant before and I haven't changed my mind. GREAT service and I love the taro croquet. Fried calamari is excellent too. Served quickly.
(5)Steve N.
Two visits so far. I went alone the first time and ate spicy spinach, a vegetarian roll with tomago, and a duck salad; all excellent. The second visit, with a friend, was for a set dinner. It was nice, but the creativity fell a little short of the everyday menu. The standout was the cured Chinese sausage and mussels, for me. The team, though, is five-star. The decor is plain, unfortunately.

My co-workers all like this place, so we all came here the other day for lunch. Our server was very happy and always seemed to be smiling, which was nice. I'm a very picky eater, so I worried a bit about my meal. I ended up ordering the chicken katsu, which is an appetizer (it's basically tiny chicken nuggets in panko breading), as my meal. They have lunch specials for $10, including pork katsu, which all come with soup, salad and a california roll, but I couldn't get the chicken instead of the pork. Oh well. It ended up being fine, because I was full after anyway. I enjoyed it, and one of my co-workers thought it was good enough that he ended up ordering it to go for lunch the next day. I wouldn't come here often, but it's nice to have this as a quick, close to the office option for lunch.

Been meaning to write a review because we eat here a lot before and after movies. Clean, relaxing and unassuming. Attentive staff, quick service. Varied, Pan-Asian menu with plenty of vegetarian selections in addition to sushi, fish meat and chicken dishes. Large selection of sake. Very reasonably priced wine list. Favorite dishes include eggplant appetizer, salmon appetizer, scallops, shrimp stir fry, any of the whole fish specials such as yellowtail snapper, All the cooked sushi, especially with eel. The big rolls are good for sharing as appetizers with friends. Accommodates party of 6 or 8 as easily as 2. Can do without the music (oriental pop) but they will turn it off if you ask.

Went to Yuga for the first time last night and the food was fantastic. I did not know about the restaurant until it popped up as a Groupon item. I am so glad they joined Groupon as I never would have found them now that I live on the beach and Asian food is not on the top of my list for restaurants to frequent. Yuga changed that. I will frequent Yuga a few times a month as the food is delicious, plentiful and fast. I had the Chicken and brown rice in a coconut milk sauce that was awesome, I just ate the leftovers for lunch and my partner had the prawns which were also excellent. Only gripes are there were 6 college women at a table that were so loud and obnoxious that it was hard to even relax. The acoustics are not the best. Someone should have nicely asked them to be a little conscious of the diners around them. I would have tried but I'm afraid it would not have come off so nicely so I kept my mouth shut and glared at them a bit. Other gripe is the styro-foam containers that they put leftovers in. Really bad for the environment, guys! With better acoustics or a staff that could graciously lower the volume on the college girl night out and paper to go containers, Yuga would be a FIVE for me.
(4)Esther G.
A Coral Gables lunch staple. They have great specials that include an entree, salad, miso soup and california roll. The black bean and lemongrass shrimp, thai basil chicken and vegetable stir fry are my favorites. They don't deliver but were kind enough to call me when I forgot to pick up my lunch after half an hour. Dining in is also pleasant with a friendly, efficient staff, and a warm, inviting interior.
(4)Bahia S.
This place is great! Not everything they have is Japanese (there is some Asian Fusion stuff thrown in), but the Japanese stuff they do have is very authentic. While the Su Shin Izakaya nearby is like a traditional Japanese izakaya (eating and drinking place with small plates available), Yuga is like a traditional Japanese shokudo (hard to translate exactly, but like a casual dining place like the Japanese equivalent of a diner) with pan asian cuisine added. Yuga has become a regular place for my husband and I when we are craving Japanese food (we also go to Su Shin and we love Hiro Yakko-san). The dishes we have enjoyed: Miso soup Agetofu (age dashi tofu) Korean BBQ Rice (Bibimba, bibimbap) Japanese curry Sushi (it's very good, albeit with unusual fillings) The ambiance is really nice there. The service is good, the room is calm, the host is Japanese, and they play Japanese music.

I went here for dinner during the weekday and it was pretty empty. It seems like it is usually like this during dinner, from the comments I heard from what seemed to be regulars. It was kinda nice. The waitress was extra attentive to our every need since we were pretty much the only table. One thing I have to say is that the serving size for everything was huge. The Chicken Katsu had almost twice as much from what you would expect from most Japanese restaurants. The Thai donuts had a total of about 10 pieces. You usually get 5-6. Which really isn't a bad thing. We loved the sauce that the Chicken Katsu came with, it seemed simple but it had the perfect amount of sweet/savory. The chicken was fried just right as well. My fiancee's Chicken Teri Don was very dry, but still edible. It was shame because the sauce was perfect. Maybe a little more sauce would even it out. My Korean BBQ rice was great for me and exploding with flavor. I love my food like that. Some people might say it was over seasoned. The Thai donuts were just as good as any place we've been too. It came with the usual strawberry, chocolate, and condensed milk. The service was perfect. They weren't intrusive and like some waiters/waitresses are when they only have one table. She was there when we needed her. The prices are pretty much the same as most Japanese restaurants, but like I mentioned before, you do get a slightly bigger serving size.
(4)Eddie I.
Great restaurant, my new favorite sushi fix. The service was great, with my drinks always topped off. The food was excellent, we ordered about 7 different rolls of sushi, and all were tasty. It also doesn't hurt that the prices are really low ($3-6) for regular rolls, with the ginormous dragon roll at about $11.
(5)Jeanette E.
I have no idea what the few mediocre reviews are talking about. They obviously did not go to the same restaurant I went to last night. I did happen to have a groupon to get me there but I will definitely be back. My friend and I shared dishes and everything was fantastic. The lemongrass shrimp in coconut milk is great and the Korean beef rice bowl with kimchee is to die for. We were literally moaning while eating it. Service was really good too. They had a nice bottle of cab on special that night for $20. While we were there, a large table of Japanese customers walked in.... always a good sign!! The Thai donuts were ok but the sweetened condensed milk to dip did the trick! We only tried one sushi roll (the Roscoe - eel w/ cream cheese and avocado then lightly fried) but it was SOOOO good. It melted in your mouth. As far as decor, it is simple... very asian. I'm not sure what the other Yelpers were expecting. The Japanese are minimalists so the decor did not bother me one bit. I plan to take friends there as soon as possible. It really was a memorable meal!

If you want good sushi, go to Red Koi on Miracle Mile a couple of blocks over. They have amazing sushi, phenomenal Pad Thai, delicious cocktails and good service. The music can be a bit loud, but wait....I'm writing this review about Yuga. Yuga has great service and neighborhood ambiance (quaint and clean), but unexceptional food. However, some of their specials and coupons make it an easy place to revisit for lunch (not dinner). For lunch, my girlfriend and I went there after a yoga class equipped with a groupon. There were tons of regulars and the place was packed. I had the sashimi lunch box with miso soup, tuna, salmon and hamachi (yellowtail) pieces. The fish was fresh and the portions were perfect. However, my friend's tofu was way too soft (mushy) and saturated with sodium rich brown sauce. Luckily, she also ordered a tempura style vegetarian maki roll with cream cheese that she recommends. Dinner later in the week was a little less than desirable. I ordered 5-spice sweet potato fries and a spicy tuna roll. Both disappointing - the fries were drenched in a sweet and spicy sauce that took away from the crunchy french fries concept and the tuna had white "ligaments" throughout that made me think that they gave me the bottom of the barrel. This was a bit surprising based on my lunch pick. I should have stuck with a basic California roll. It gets a little worse. Our pork spring roll appetizers tasted like they came from Costco in a frozen box. My boyfriend's "grouper" special at $20 was actually overpriced tilapia. That being said, his dish was probably the best because the tilapia was cooked well and the garlic green beans were worth getting as a side. The other couple with us ordered California rolls (that were decent) and the thai chicken basil. HUGE portions, but I'd much rather have quality over quantity. Overall - great service, mediocre food. I wanted this place to be better than it was.

Interesting rolls and variety. Fast service. I never get tired of coming here. Try the Miami heat, green wonton, tropical and spicy tuna tartare.. Yumola!

I went here for dinner on Thursday and there were about 5 parties dining. The restaurant is small, clean, and casual. The hostess was extremely nice. She greeted us and sat us promptly. Our waitress was also polite and attentive. Timing was great; she was not pushy. For appetizer, We ordered the miso salmon, and wakame salad. The miso and sake glazed salmon was perfectly cooked. The only thing missing was a little more moisture... maybe a little of the amazing glaze on top?.... The wakame salad was very straight forward. Great taste. For entrees, we ordered the fantasy roll, crab rangoon roll, and the chicken katsu. The rolls were good, the crab rangoon roll is very original. The chicken katsu was great, and the portion huge! For dessert, we had the thai donuts. AMAZING!!!!!! The berries sauce was delicious! I thought they would bring a regular strawberry syrup, but this mixed berries sauce was fresh and not overly sweet. A good balance for the sweet powdered sugar, condensed milk and chocolate! I will definitely go back. I really liked this place.

Best kept secret in Coral Gables. Quality sushi at an incredible price. I've been coming to this place for years and finally decided to post a review. Delicious!
(5)Anne M.
Good food, good service, we've been here several times, never disappoints. They have different rolls than the usual. The tropical roll with mango and avocado was very good. They have another vegetarian roll that has cream cheese and fried won ton wrappers and it was an interesting blend of textures. All the food we have had has been very good. Street parking is easy to find, something that isn't true about a lot of Miami or Coral Gables. We will be back soon!

Went for dinner on a wed with my bf, place wasn't busy and the service was great (dont you hate it when a place is empty AND the service sucks, what's up with that??). Miso soup = delicious. Salmon sushi was excellent and great for the price (9 for $12). Garlic beef tataki was amazing, and I will definitely be going back for it soon. Also had a sea bass special with fragrant herb sauce or something like that. Also tasty, but not outstanding. I would go for something different next time. Overall great impression. I would go back, and I would recommend trying it. Also, check out restaurant.com , we got a $25 gift cert for $2... that's no typo. I had a coupon code in addition to the usual discount ($25 for $10). The caveat was you had to order $45 minimum, but that never seems to be a problem :0 Check it out, a great little gem in the gables.

I'm not a hard core sushi eater but I love this place. I usually order their lunch special thai basil chicken which comes with miso soup, a salad and a roll that I upgrade to crab rangoon. Their cilantro salad dressing is so delicious I dip my sushi in it instead of soy sauce. The service is excellent and the food always arrives quickly. They are always on top of refilling your water and asking if you need anything. I've never stopped by and have had to wait for a table. I also recommend: Tuna Sandwiches, Agetofu, & their Thai Donuts.

Yuga gets for stars for being one of the better ethnic restaurants in Miami. For appetizer I ordered fiery spinach which was good but just tasted like Chinese food with two red peppers. Same with the California rolls but Japanese. The spring rolls were incredibly fresh with large fresh shrimp and the cilantro was not overdone which I find is often a problem in other spring rolls. The Korean Bbq beef dish was amazing and had a great spicy flavor even though it wasn't so spicy for me but hey I lived In New Orleans. The spicy was the perfect amount of hot and sweet and blended with the perfectly cooked beef. I mixed my dish up with the rice (that they were happy to substitute brown for there rice for) and I am pretty sure this is some of the best ethnic food in Miami. The spicy was not just hot but with flavor. And my husbands spicy glass noodles were good too which is saying a lot since I don't like Chinese food. I can't wait back to come back and try their other dishes. Weirdly, you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom which normally I end annoying but after seeing how clean their kitchen was I am glad I did. It just made me more impressed. The mochi (essentially green Japanese marshmallows) filled with red bean ice cream were delicious and unusual. I am not a huge dessert fan but really liked the subtle exoticness of this one. Also, the service was great. I changed my order in the middle (originally ordering veggie sushi but the Korean bbq beef was calling my name) even though the waiter had already entered it in the computer he was totally gracious and fixed the order and didn't get one thing wrong. The value was terrific. The ambience good but a little bright for a saturday night. I am only upset I didn't get to try the sake since it was my friends bday and she was on anti-biotics I feared it might be rude to drink in front of her.

I heard great reviews for lunch so we tried for dinner b/c of a restaurants.com coupon i had. sushi was okay. kinda of on the small side but not terrible. pot stickers definitely shrunk b/c those were tiny, lemongrass chicken don't really recommend. I didn't read the part where it said soaked in coconut milk well it was drenched and after awhile hard to eat. the grouper however was great. the seasoning on it was extremely good. the thai donuts were the best part with 3 dipping sides. the service though was really good.

Sorry to disagree with most Unexceptional food and nothing special at all about this place. Would not go back.

Sushi restaurants with a Thai menu are a dime a dozen. so I walked into Yuga with low expectations. That changed quickly. The decor is clean and the whole place just feels comfy. Our server was very attentive; unfortunately, there were only two working the lunch shift. The bacon-wrapped asparagus was yummy, and Yuga has the distinction of being the only sushi restaurant I've ever been to that had umeboshi on the menu. Prices run medium, and they have excellent lunch specials. Check it out!

Good Sushi. I was ok with it, but my wife was really happy as they have excellent vegetarian Sushi.

Spring rolls were okay but the peanut sauce was weak, croquettes were mushy and bland, but the peanut noodle salad was nice and chewy. The sashimi could be fresher. Tuna was dry, had a white discoloration, and tasted as if it was repeatedly frozen/thawed. Salmon was slimy and fishier than normal. I didn't like the sushi rolls, the rice was soggy.

We loved the spring rolls. Not typical, they were a soft tortilla like dough, filled with avocado, cream cheese, and veggies with a delicous sauce. I could of eaten another order. We also enjoyed the red vegetarian curry. It was a large fresh and flavorful portion served in a big bowl with a choice of brown or white rice. The smaller boy got a giant veggie noodle bowl of udon and vegetables topped with a soy pancake that we all dove for. The wine by the glass selection was unique. Gruner Vetliner was tasty with the food and fairy priced. For dessert the cream cheese banana wantons were rich and flavorful with a beautful presention. Would love to have these again. Yuga is a small and casually tastful welcoming restaurant. Highly recommended.

I Like this place a lot! I work nearby and I like this place more than Sushi Maki. Also, the service is always great! The one time that there was a mix-up in the kitchen and the food took too long the manager comped the whole meal! Now that is what I call service! Great lunch specials too!!! I always leave happy. =)

Korean Rice Bowl all the way!! I can't say much about the rolls, but the rest is freaking amazing!! The service is great. Our waitress was like a ninja appearing when we needed her and disappearing when we were having a conversation. The food portions were huge compared other Japanese restaurants I've been to. I'm sad to say that I didn't actually finish my bowl cause I was so full, which doesn't happen very often!! I wish I had ordered some dessert, would a perfect ending for a perfect meal!!

I wish I liked this as much as the sister restaurant Lan Pan Asian Café - my guess is that chef Johnson isn't here as much so that's why the consistency and quality flounders. The sushi is okay; the appetizers are good but nothing spectacular. The menu is less creative than Lan - you get standards such as wakame salad, rolls, and thai donuts. Service is okay, it is a small restaurant so if they get busy quickly it might get a little slow. They also have a fantastic lunch special and they are usually busier during lunch. Southfloridadines.com offers a half off coupon for Yuga regularly.

Short review: Really yummy food with very reasonable prices. Their Asian cuisine (rolls, stir fry's, etc) is really good. This restaurant has very good options for vegans/ vegetarians or people watching their health. Very nice staff that are attentive but not smothering. Service is very good and food comes out pretty quickly. Not too crowded or noisy.

Monday means Matsuri is closed, so somehow I ended up at YUGA. I'd never been there before, but after hearing "you'll love it" from my bff's crazy neigbor we gave it a shot. The fact that it took us 3minutes to walk there was a bonus point. I knew it was owned by the Lan Pan crew and so the menu is pretty much identical. It was about 9pm, and besides our table of 3 there were only a quiet family of 4 and a single guy on the opposite side of the restaurant that must have a really good plan on his cellphone since he didn't put it down the entire time he was there. This place is really small, seats about 50 which is nice, but the music was so low you could barely tell it was playing, so my table almost felt forced to whisper since it was eerily uncomfortable knowing everyone could basically hear us chewing our food. The restroom is through a pair of silver service doors leading to the kitchen which is kinda off-putting. You walk into the waiters station and drink cooler and you can catch a glimpse of the rubber booted kitchen staff. The service was really prompt considering there were 8 people in the place. The super attentive hostess helped clear our table off as we ate our meal. I had an ice cold Sapporo, edamame, chicken potstickers, salmon skin hand roll and a dragon roll. Overall it was good. My edamame came to the table almost as soon as I ordered them, but they were room temperature and barely salted. The rest of my meal was served about 5 minutes later. The potstickers were tasty and a little greasy, but the dipping sauce was so good it had me dipping my pinky in it after I finished the rest of the plate. The hand roll was forgettable and I found the nori really chewy for some reason. The dragon rolls tasted good but were so big I spent so much time chewing them down into pieces I could actually swallow, I almost didn't feel like giving my jaw a workout 7 more times. My bill was about $35 with tax and tip which was expected since it's the Gables and it's sushi. All in all YUGA is alright. I wouldn't run at the chance to eat there again but if my friends took a vote and we ended up there I wouldn't cross my arms and throw a tantrum. Maybe next time I'll wait to have sushi on a Tuesday.

This restaurant is run by the same owners of Lan Pan in Dadeland station. The menu, therefore, is almost identical, the location totally different. If you are in the Gables for lunch , or for dinner for that matter, try Yuga. Excellent service add to the great menu here. Like Lan Pan, you will find great , lunch specials, reasonable prices , and a very nice environment. This is one of my favorite places in the Gables, I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.

The food is ok, nothing special. However I am used to real Asian food where you go to a ramen restaurant for ramen and Thai restaurant for Thai food. Yuga Restaurant is like a cafe that cater a varieties. if I want sushi, I will go to sushi restaurant. There is no speciality that I can rave about. it is sad in Miami that we don't get real good Asian food.
(3)Chris J.
No wait, reasonable lunch specials and prompt service make Yuga superior to any other sushi restaurant in The Gables. I had the chicken teriyaki lunch special with edamame and unagi roll and left feeling very happy about a new lunch spot.

Yummy! This place is great! It took us a while to decide because the menu was extensive and EVERYTHING sounded delicious! We started with the pork spring rolls and I had the Tom Yom Goon (spicy shrimp & lemongrass soup) and both were great! My bf had a dragon roll and a bowl with rice, short ribs and a fried egg and he loved it! I had the spicy lemongrass shrimp and it was also excellent! We will definitely be back!

This place is such a great little place off the beaten path. It doesn't get too busy because of the location. It's not your typical Gables restaurant, I feel it's a little more casual and relaxed. I have been a regular customer here for over a year (even after I moved and it is no longer five minutes away). The staff is always very friendly and attentive and the chef is also accomodating for any changes you want to make. The crispy lamb ribs are quite tasty and I love the crab rangoon roll. My boyfriend loves the thai donuts (i'm not a fan of any thai donuts). The asian nachos are pretty good too. The prices are great for the quality of the food. Also, FYI, they are on Restaurant.com !!

The menu looks delicious, especially the starters. lots of vegetarian options and sushi. Stars off because there's something lacking in the atmosphere. lights are too bright, you can see the waiter's stand, needs some curtains, can't put my finger on it, but something.... wb had the beef tataki which was a big bowl of well done beef in some sort of ponzu sauce with raw spinach (the waiter said, "i don't know why it's called tataki"). i had the thai basil chicken to play it safe and while the veggies in it tasted good, the chicken was bland and cut in weird looking chunks. i guess it tasted healthy. i'll try the apps next time instead like the croquettes, bacon wrapped asparagus, grilled salmon, or tuna sandwiches (not what it sounds like). i had mochi (sp?) for dessert, described by the waiter as not-too-sweet. but it was a little too sweet. but good. overall good but i guess i was hoping for amazing since the prices were on the upside and it's new.

Asian cuisine for Non-Asians. Nice plating, gables prices. I had the taro croquettes (a bit oily and falling apart, tasted fine) and miso ramen, nontransparent broth. The tofu was kinda reconstituted, some of the snowpeas were stringy, didn't like the noodles. I don't want to sound too harsh though; I'm sure it'll get positive reviews--just wasn't my type of restaurant.

Crab Ragoon appetizer was perfect. We had three rolls. Funky ones. Crunchy Tuna Tartare was the best. Great blend of flavors. Rising Sun and Rainbow had great textures and tastes. The food was prepared to look good as well.

This place is amazing. First the food is always fresh and made so good. I always get the lemon grass chicken with the rice... It's beyond awesome. I don't know what they put in that plate but it's heaven. If you have a cold it's the best meal lol. The service is great and everyone is so attentive and welcoming. I really recommend it to everyone who loves great food. Love yuga!!!!

This place has never disappointed me! I have come so many times and really should have written a review before. Tonight's service was second to none. Dani (not sure how she spells it) was the best waitress! We ordered some crispy lamb ribs and she brought warm moist towels to freshen up after as they're a bit sticky. She remembered my favorite beer from the time I came over a month ago! The food is always amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone over and over again! Some of my favorite dishes: Crispy lamb ribs Korean BBQ rice Pan seared scallops Almond crusted snapper

El Hub and I came here on a lazy Tuesday evening for dinner and should have not bothered dining when we saw that only 1 other table was occupied for good reason. Although they have wonderful service, a tastefully decorated ambiance, and a vast menu, the dishes themselves bore no resemblance to the menu descriptions. We ordered the basil chicken, an allegedly Thai style stir fry that was so overwhelmed by the taste of sesame oil that no other flavor came through. Worse yet, the dish hardly contained any basil at all. We also ordered the beef noodle stir fry again overloaded with sesame oil. Even more appalling was the fact that the beef tasted old and on the brink of expiry. If you are in the area, I highly suggest yelping a bit more as I am sure there are better options around.
